PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod having proper flexibility, proper toughness and excellent durability. SOLUTION: This fishing rod comprises a rod pipe 6 thickened in a rod pipe thickness (t)/rod pipe outer diameter (D) ratio of about >=0.25 (preferably 0.33-0.45) and longitudinal reinforcing fibers paralleled in the longitudinal direction of the fishing rod. At least 50% of the longitudinal reinforcing fibers have an elastic modulus of >=40 tonf/mm2. Therefore, the fishing rod can be formed in the shape of a thin rod wholly having good flexibility, good toughness and excellent durability.
