PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the new subject particle consisting of a noninfective flavivirus-like particle composed of a protein including an M or PrM protein component and an E protein component, and having a specific molecular weight, excellent in immunogenicity and safety, and usable for diagnosis of the before virus-infectious disease. SOLUTION: This new particle consists of a noninfective flavivirus-like particle composed of a protein including an M or PrM protein component and an E protein component, and having 62±5 kDa molecular weight. The particle is excellent in immunogenicity and safety, and extremely usable as a flavivirus vaccine a diagnostic agent of the flavivirus-infectious disease or the like. The flavivirus-like particle is obtained by inoculating the Peking strain of the virus belonging to the genus flavivirus which is a vaccine strain of Japanese encephalitis virus in a mouse brain, extracting genomic RNA 3 days after the inoculation, synthesizing cDNA by using the obtained genomic RNA, amplifying the cDNA by using a primer comprising the partial sequence thereof by a PCR method, and cloning the amplified product. |
