PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To positively maintain the lock state of a sliding door even when thickness-directional looseness occurrs in a sliding door on the outdoor side. SOLUTION: An auxiliary locking device for a sliding door is provided with a first extension piece 3 touching a cross muntin 28 of the sliding door 27 on the outdoor side, from the indoor side; a second extension piece 4 touching the indoor step difference 35 of a door frame 34; a casing 2 provided in such a way that these extension pieces 3, 4 can change a relative space between them; an operating means for enlarging or reducing the relative space of both extension pieces 3, 4. In this case, a fixed plate 29 with rack teeth 30 is fixed to the cross muntin 28 of the sliding door 27 on the indoor side, and engaging teeth 6 engaged with the rack teeth 30 of the fixed plate 29 are provided at the first extension piece 3.
