PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate untidiness of the area around a faucet, such as a kitchen faucet or a washstand faucet, thereby maintaining good appearance of the area around the faucet, and to resolve problems of an incessant wet state of the area around the faucet and accordingly of an insanitary state of the area caused by growth and breeding of mold. SOLUTION: A faucet 10 is provided with a shelf 18 having an article mounting surface 18A which projects from a faucet main body 16 or a spout pipe, in which a valve portion for opening/closing a water channel is incorporated. The shelf 18 is formed like a plate which is upwardly separate from an installation surface 12 on which the faucet 10 is installed, whereby a space is formed between the shelf 18 and the installation surface 12.
