PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device arranged so as to enable realization of reduction of the number of components and the miniaturization of the device by unnecessitating the driving power source used exclusively for operating a clamper in the direction to release a disk clamp. SOLUTION: An optical head 16 in a driving unit U is moved to the further inner peripheral side of the disk D than the area of the normal reproducing and recording operation. By the moving force of the optical head 16 at this time, a clamp releasing member 25 is driven to the direction Y2, then a clamp arm 22 is driven to the clamp releasing direction of the disk by the moving force of this clamp releasing member 25. Since the clamp releasing force is given by the moving force of the head, another individual driving power for releasing the clamp is unrequired, and the transmission of the driving power for releasing the clamp is facilitated.
