PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform high precision stop position control regardless of an overrun amount until the tape running is stopped and without a malfunction when a stop control is performed on a mode shift request detective position from a high speed search in a high speed running mode. SOLUTION: An equipment operation decision means 2 doesn't accept a mode shift request signal from a mode shift request signal detection means 4 on the way of mode shifting form the mode shift start time to the running stop time in the high speed running mode of the high speed search, and also doesn't accept the mode shift request signal from the mode shift request signal detection means 4 till receiving an ending notice of a position return of an amount equivalent to the overrun amount from a comparison means 6 in the running in the opposite direction in a stop positioning mode. Even when the overrun amount is increased, the malfunction in the stop positioning is prevented. Since the contorl for a final stop position is performed by detecting the original mode shift request signal of VISS/VASS signal, etc., the precise positioning is performed. |
