DETERMINING A DEPTH MAP FROM IMAGES OF A SCENE 5 Disclosed is a method (900) for determining a depth measurement associated with a scene captured by an image capture device (1427). The method involves receiving (920) at least a first image and a second image of the scene captured by the image capture device, in which the first image is captured using at least one different camera parameter than that of the second image. At least a first image patch is selected (930) from the first image and a 10 second image patch is selected from the second image, the selected patches corresponding to a common part of the scene captured in each of the first and second images. The selected image patches are used to determine (940) which of the selected image patches is provides a more focussed representation of the common part of the scene captured in the patches. The method calculates (1270; 1370) at least one value based on a combination 15 (1260a, 1260b; 1360, 1365) of the data in each of the first and second image patches, the combination being dependent on which of the image patches is determined to be the more focused image patch (1250; 1350). The depth measurement of the common part of the scene is then determined from the at least one calculated value. 5589369_1 P001872_specijlodge ZiFig.ZI 100Y~4I~llI7 fn~Irn |
