PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time needed for correcting operation and to improve the operation efficiency by making it each for an operator to confirm and correct a character recognition result. SOLUTION: This character recognition device is provided with a character recognition part 30 which performs character recognition for respective character patterns cut out of a document image by plural character recognition blocks having mutually different recognition algorithm, a composing recognition part 40 which obtains one decision result from plural recognition results of the character recognition part, a result storage part 50 which stores the recognition results of the character recognition part and the decision result, a display part 9 and a correction part 60 which corrects the decision result. In this case, the character recognition results and decision result corresponding to a corrected character are compared with character recognition results and decision results corresponding to the other characters and the display form of at least the decision result of the character is made different from that of other characters based on the comparison result.
