PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the electrophoretic display device having improved reflectivity and contrast ratio, in which the difference between specific gravities of migration particles and a dispersion medium is reduced by lowering the specific gravity of the migration particle. SOLUTION: In the electrophoretic display device 10, a dispersion medium 13 colored by pigments and electrophoretic particles 14 dispersed in the medium 13 are enclosed in a gap between a transparent substrate 11 and an opposed substrate 12 which faces with the substrate 11. The display operation is performed by the electrophoretic action of the electrophoretic particles 14, which depends on the on-state or off-state of the voltage applied between the transparent substrate 11 and the opposed substrate 12. In this case, each electrophoretic particle 14 has a structure that a metal 14b is coated on the surface of a resin dielectric particle 14a.
