PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple oxygen sensor that has improved response, cannot be affected greatly by an interference gas, and can stably maintain normal output even in the reducing atmosphere. SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor element is constituted of a conductive oxide that has K2NiF4-type crystal structure and at the same time is expressed by a chemical expression Ln2-XAEXMO4+d (however, Ln indicates one type or two types or more of lanthanoid with an atomic number of 57-71, AE indicates one type or two types or more of an alkali earth element, and M indicates one type or two types or more of the transition element with an atomic number of 25-28 with 0<=x<=1.5), or a conductive oxide expressed by a chemical expression La3Ni2O7+d or La4Ni3O10+d that is similar to K2NiF4 type. In this case, the oxygen sensor element is a linear body or a strip body and is preferably of a self-heat-generation type with a site where resistance is increased by reducing a sectional area in that current flows other than other parts at a part other than both the end parts.
