PURPOSE: The invention relates to a group of nonphenyl sulfonamide useful in prevention and treatment of diseases due to the destruction of connective tissues, such as arthritis, arteriosclerosis atka fish, restenosis and osteoporosis, by inhibiting matrix metalloproteases. CONSTITUTION: Matrix metalloproteases are natural enzymes found in most mammals and related to the destruction of connective tissues. The matrix metalloproteases include gelatinase A and B, stromellycin-1, fibroblast collagenase, neutrophil collagenase, matrillycin and other types of collagenase. The compounds are related to many diseases due to the destruction of connective tissues such as rheumatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, periodontium disease, multiple arteriosclerosis, gingivitis, corneal subepithelia and stomach ulcer, arteriosclerosis atka fish, renal artery intinal proliferation resulting in restenosis, heart failure and tumor metastasis. The inventors have found a group of non-phenyl sulfonamides having very excellent inhibiting activities. The purpose of the invention is to provide the compounds, and treating methods of diseases mediated by metalloproteases by using their pharmaceutically allowable preparations. The invention provides non-phenyl sulfonamide which are inhibitors of metalloproteases. The compounds of the invention are the compounds of Formula (I), their pharmaceutically allowable salts and solvated materials.
