PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can control reflectance at a boundary between an alignment film and liquid crystal and which can suppress occurrence of interference fringes. SOLUTION: On the rear side of a front glass substrate 2 of the liquid crystal display 1, Al2O3 film having λ/4 optical film thickness and a transparent electrode 3 composed of ITO and having λ/2 optical film thickness are formed by a vapor deposition method. Al2O3 film is formed as a front alignment film 4 and is subjected to alignment treatment. λ is the wavelength of a bright-line causing interference fringes and a middle value is adopted if there is plural bright-lines. To form the front alignment film 4, the film is vapor-deposited by holding the front glass substrate 2 inclined at 65 deg. with respect to a vapor deposition source. A rear alignment film 8 to be formed on the side of a rear glass substrate 5 is also formed with Al2O3 in a similar manner to form the front alignment film 4 and both glass substrates 2, 5 are stuck to each other to enclose liquid crystal 9 in between. Owing to a configuration thus formed, reflectance at a boundary between the liquid crystal 9 and the front alignment film 4 can be controlled to be <=0.5% and occurrence of the interference fringes can be suppressed. |
