PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to arrange a collation means having a large circuit scale so as to spatially separate it from an extraction means, etc., and to install the collation means also on a small fitting space by transmitting the featured value of a pattern to the collation means by a transmission means when the extraction means extracts the featured value of the pattern. SOLUTION: An A/D conversion part 19 converts a convolution processing result into a digital signal and stores the digital signal in a digital signal storage part 20. A featured value extraction part 21 binarizes the digital image stored in the storage part 20 by executing threshold processing and then extracts the featured value of a pattern. When the extraction part 21 extracts the featured value of the pattern a wired communication part 22 transmits the featured value of the pattern to a collation part 23 through a wired communication line. Upon receiving the featured value of the pattern through the wired communication part 22, the collation part collates the featured value of the pattern with the featured values of various previously registered patterns to specify a person to be collated.
