PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a large overhead space required for spindle members to operate in a rack and a pinion assembly for conventional drilling machine, and to improve the workability. SOLUTION: A drilling machine 10 has a housing supported by a base 18, and a spindle members 34, 54, 90 rotatably positioned around an axis 38. The spindle can move with respect to the housing, and can move along the axis between a lowered position at which its output element 102 engages with a workpiece W and an elevated position at which the output element is disengaged from the workpiece. Besides, the spindle is rotated-driven by a motor 30 supported by the housing. Further, a feed for the spindle is covered with a flexible protecting wall member connected to the spindle so that its exposed part can move together with the spindle. |
