PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make extremely precisely measurable the moving distance of an ultrasonic oscillator at the time of executing ultrasonic scanning without receiving influence from the meandering, deformation, etc., of a catheter by providing a moving distance setting means detecting the moving distance of an ultrasonic scanning part between the ultrasonic scanning part incorporating the ultrasonic oscillator and a guide wire. SOLUTION: The guide wire 20 is previously inserted into a thin celom tube, a swelling part 36a forming an inserting guide part 41 is provided at the casing 36 of the ultrasonic scanning part 32 and the wire 32 is inserted to the part 41. A magnetic film is provided at the wire 20 and a magnetic scale is formed at this magnetic film by varying a polarity in such an order as N, S, S, N by each prescribed pitch interval. A magnetic sensor 42 is mounted to the casing 36 constituting the part 32 to read the magnetic scale consisting of the magnetic film.
