PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lighter cover igniter entirely different in appearance from an easy lighter, and superior to the easy lighter in functions and operation. SOLUTION: This lighter cover igniter comprises a pair of a hood side handle 2A, and a pressing element side handle 3A disposed in an opposing state so as to be held in a palm and having a U-shaped cross-section for housing an easy lighter 1 therebetween, cam faces 9A, 9B provided on an inner face of either one of the hood side handle 2A or the pressing element side handle 3A for making the easy lighter travel in a direction approximately orthogonally to a direction of gripping by an operation of gripping the hood side handle 2A and the pressing element side handle 3A and a stopper wall provided at an end part of the pressing element side handle 3A for stopping a piezoelectric pressing element 1c when the easy lighter 1 is made to travel by the operation of the hood side handle 2A and the pressing element side handle 3A and pressing downward the piezoelectric pressing element 1c against a rod-like fuel tank 1a.
