PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an antibacterial and deodorizing effect of a deodorant and maintain the effect for long time by combining powder composed of wasabi (Japanese horseradish) extract or allyl isothiocyanate with a persistent agent for maintaining the antibacterial deodorizing action of the powder, and bringing the deodorant into contact with water to generate antibacterial deodorizing gas. SOLUTION: As an antibacterial deodorizing component, powder of wasabi extract or mustard extract is used. In making the extract into powder, for example, wasabi or the like is pulverized and then freezed or dried. As a synthetic mustard extract, cited is allyl isothiocyanate which is natural mustard oil. As a persistent agent, cited are a water absorptive gelling agent or a coating agent coated on the surface of the powder. Thus, the powder is gradually dissolved from the surface first in the water, so that an antibacterial deodorizing effect can be maintained for long time without immediately dissipating the gas in the air. The dissipated gas directly collides with a malodor source such as urine or the like so as to improve the antibacterial deodorizing effect.
