PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively remove a burr and a swelling generated to a work which has left a distortion, in a grinding device to grind a plate form work. SOLUTION: This grinding device 10 is a device to grind the main surface of a plate form sprocket raw material 12 by the circumferential surface of a grinding wheel 11 having the circumferential surface, and it has a pressing part 22, a grinding wheel holder 23, and a work holder 24. The pressing part 22 is arranged to press a work to the circumferential surface at the position opposing to the circumferential surface and to form a specific clearance with the circumferential surface. The grinding wheel holder 23 holds the grinding wheel 11, and rotates the held grinding wheel 11. The work holder 24 holds the sprocket raw material 12 movable and rotatable in the thickness direction in a specific area in the condition setting the main surface of the sprocket raw material 12 in the clearance, and rotates the held sprocket raw material 12.
