PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating device for a door lock for a vehicle which enables reliable unlocking of a vehicle door by a key operation from outside a passenger's room as a backup operation even when a motor stops operating due to a failure or the like and, besides, enables improvement of an antitheft performance. SOLUTION: In an operating device 1 for a door lock for a vehicle wherein an operation of unlatching a vehicle door is conducted by a motor 32, key cylinders 6 and 7 of the vehicle door are made to operate in linkage with a latch not through the intermediary of a drive motor, but through the intermediary of a link mechanism for the key cylinders and a ratchet. By this structure, non-operation due to battery depletion or a failure of the motor 32 such as disconnection can be prevent surely. Accordingly, the vehicle door can be opened surely from outside a driver's room, on condition that a vehicle driver has a key with him. Besides, theft on a vehicle can be prevented by covering the aforesaid link mechanism for the key cylinders and a link mechanism for an actuator with an actuator case 31.
