PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage, operate, and control a large number of vehicles on road in a safe, speedy, and high-density manner. SOLUTION: This vehicle traffic control system includes a road status detection part B to detect road status, a traffic situation detection part A to detect positions and speed of vehicles running ahead and behind as a traffic situation, a moving block control part C to determine a vehicle-to-vehicle distance and speed of a target vehicle based on the detected road status and traffic situation, and a speed and vehicle-to-vehicle control part D to control the target vehicle to follow a preceding vehicle maintaining the determined vehicle-to-vehicle distance and desired speed.
