PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple pressure relief valve at a low cost capable of effecting the rapid evacuation of an intermediate cooler while keeping the regular pressure relief function of the valve. SOLUTION: A relief valve 10 is provided with a housing 22 having a valve element 26 arranged across a main port 28 to directly receive the air pressure from a pressure source. A pilot port 36 is provided so as to receive the pilot pressure from the pressure source, and a piston 41 is arranged close the pilot port. At least one evacuation port 34 is provided in the housing so as to evacuate the air which is received from the main port and presses the valve element into the atmosphere. The air pressure signal by the pilot pressure is transmitted to a lower part of the piston inside the valve, immediately opens the valve, and relieves the pressure in the main port, i.e., the intermediate cooler through the evacuation port.
