PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the automatic answering telephone system that automatically identifies a caller without enforcing the caller to enter information required for identification so as to reduce a recordable time for repetitive recording of a message from a same caller. SOLUTION: The answering machine is provided with a caller information reception section 9 that receives caller information received from a caller notice service together with the arrival of an incoming bell tone, a caller information storage section 10 that stores the received caller information, an automatic answering telephone section 8 that stores the received message, a timer 14 that sets a recordable time of the message, and an incoming number of times detection section 13 that detects whether or not number of times of reception of caller information of a caller recording a message reaches a prescribed number of times, setting of the timer 14 is changed and suppressed the recordable time for a succeeding message of a caller which the incoming call number detection section 13 detects it that whose reception number of times of the caller information reaches a prescribed number of times.
