PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously and accurately measure the angle of the optical rotation of a high-concentration sample by an inexpensive and compact device by expecting the optical rotation due to a sample to be inspected, and by inclining the transmission axis of a linear analyzer for the normal line of the vibration surface of polarization to be applied to the sample to be inspected in advance. SOLUTION: A Faraday cell 4 generates a magnetic field by a modulation signal from a signal generator 10 via a Faraday cell driver 9 and a control signal from a computer 12, rotates the vibration surface of polarization being inputted from a polarizer 3, and transmits a sample cell 5 for accommodating a sample to be inspected. A photo-sensor 7 detects light that transmits a linear analyzer 6 where a transmission axis is set to a specific oblique angle in advance. At this time, a lock-in amplifier 11 uses the modulation signal being outputted to the cell 4 as a reference signal for allowing the detection signal of the sensor 7 to be subjected to phase-sensitive detection, and the computer 12 outputs the control signal (compensation current) to the cell 4 so that the output of the lock-in amplifier 11 becomes 0 for calculating the angle of optical rotation based on the level of the control signal.
