PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight and to improve the operability and maintainability by demodulating a radio wave transmitted from a bar code reader to an electric signal and binarizing the demodulated electric signal so as to decode a bar code from a binarized pulse string. SOLUTION: When a bar code printed surface 3 is scanned by the bar code reader 1, a weak radio wave frequency-modulated according to the intensity of reflected light is transmitted through an antenna 7. On the other hand, when a portable terminal 10 comes into a bar code reading state, CPU 16 monitors a squelch signal 31 outputted from a radio receiving part 12. When CPU 16 detects the radio wave by the signal 31, CPU 16 successively fetches the pulse string of a binary digital signal 29 outputted from a binarizing circuit 19. After finishing fetching of the pulse string, a decode program encodes the pulse string. Then, after being decoded, it is stored in the terminal 10 as a code. |
