PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a point of sales(POS) system which quickly copes with price information on competitors, adjusts a price higher than that of the competitors, and displays a sales promotion message when a set price of its own company is lower than the competition price. SOLUTION: This device consists of plural electric price labels EPI 22 dealing with plural items for displaying price information regarding the items, a storage medium 36 which includes a competition price data file 34 including item discrimination data regarding each of the items and a price list of competitors and a computer 12. This computer obtains the price of the competitor from the competition price data file, reads a present price of an item from a price search (PLU) data file 44, and decides whether this present price is higher than the price of the competitor or not. When each present price is higher than the price of the competitor concerned, the present price in the PLU data file 44 is changed into a new price on the basis of a specified rule, a message is transmitted to an EPL 22 corresponding to the item and the new price is made to display. |
