PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the irregularity in luminance of an AC type plasma display panel. SOLUTION: Maintaining electrodes and scanning electrodes, which make plural pairs, are divided into a first block 2 and a second block 3. Mintaining electrodes SUS1 to SUSN and scanning electrodes SCN1 to SCNN of the block 2 are respectively driven by a maintaining electrode driver 5 and scanning electrode driver 6. Maintaining electrodes SUSN+1 to SUS2N and scanning electrodes SCNN+1 to SCN2N are respectively driven by a maintaining electrode driver 7 and a scanning electrode driver 8. An output line 11 of the driver 5 and an output line 12 the driver 7 are connected by a short-circuit line 29. Moreover, an output line 17 of a scan/maintaining pulse generating section 13 that constitutes the driver 6, and an output line 18 of a scanning/maintaining pulse generation section 15 that constitutes the driver 8 are connected by a short-circuit line 30.
