PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which simplifies a configuration, is miniaturized and attains improvement in read image accuracy. SOLUTION: Concerning this image reader, a pressure contact roller l2 is arranged so as to be protruded from the sensor glass surface of a color contact sensor 15 for 1 mm, the turning plane of a confronted paper eject roller 13 is located on the downstream side rather than a reading part and on the upstream side rather than a protruding part on the turning plane of the pressure contact roller 12, and a sensor glass surface 52 is arranged so as to be in contact with an extended plane and in contact with the pressure contact roller 12.
