The method involves receiving originating signalling messages sent by the switching centre to be tested. The received messages indicate the switching centre as the originating switching centre. The signalling messages are converted into signalling messages in which the switching centre to be tested is indicated as the destination. The converted messages are sent to the switching centre to be tested. Preferably, the converted messages are sent to the tested switching centre via the signalling interface (SSS) via which the originating signalling messages were received.
