The system controls the drive torque in a car based on a driver set values. When torque exceeds a maximum desired value, a signal reduces it as a function of the departure from the set value and measured value. A maximum allowed value is set, and the torque control is corrected by measuring the air mass flow through the drive unit, relative to the set value.
