A method of making a rectilinear-motion roller bearing between two members 1, 2 comprises forming a closed space 13 between each raceway 3 and the member to which it is to be secured, adjusting the thickness of the space by inserting blocks 15, the thickness a of which is chosen in accordance with the size and loading of roller to be used, filling the space 13 with casting resin, removing the blocks 15 when the resin has set, and inserting rollers. The bolts 12 temporarily securing the raceway 3 are removed to provide filling and venting bores 9, 10. The space 13 may be formed inside an endless rubber strip 11, or in a channel (17) (Figs. 6, 7, not shown) in the member 2. The members 1, 2 are coaxially aligned during the process by endplates (14) (Figs. 2, 3, not shown). |
