PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for forming a spiral cord, capable of winding the spiral cord at a uniform pitch or depth, the spiral cord being buried in a crawler uniform and having no joints. SOLUTION: This method for forming a spiral cord to be buried in a crawler or the like, comprises the steps of: forming a cord groove 3 at a specified pitch in the outer peripheral surface of an endless ring-shaped inner peripheral treated rubber 1; spirally winding and setting a cord 4 in the cord groove 3; winding outer peripheral treated rubber 5 in the outer periphery of the inner treat rubber 1 and the cord 4; and clamping a cord layer composed of the inner peripheral treated rubber 1, the cord 4 and the outer peripheral treated rubber 5.
