PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a signal recorder that informs the user of a difference in a function in the case that a similar function is in existence in one device. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 5 uses a switch 3 to select recording on a video tape 10 or storage in a nonvolatile memory 13 through the selection of the user using a key operation section 4. In the case that the recording on the video tape 10, the microcomputer 5 turns on a switch 6 to allow a sound generator 7 to output a notice tone of 'dingdong' in response to depression of a photographing switch on a key operation section 4 by the user. In the case of selecting recording in the nonvolatile memory 13, the microcomputer 5 turns off the switch 6 and a sound generator 12 connecting with an image control microcomputer 11 generates a notice tone of 'clang'.
