PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic excellent in viscosity stability, good in spread and compatibility at the time of application onto the skin and readily washed away by using a clay mineral together with a polyhydric alcohol. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains (A) a clay mineral (preferably kaolin) and (B) a polyhydric alcohol without substantially containing water and preferably further contains (C) a polyhydric alcohol-soluble polymer and (D) an activated zeolite. Furthermore, the amounts of the formulated ingredients in the whole composition are preferably 5-60 wt.% of the ingredient A, 1-95 wt.% of the ingredient B (e.g. polyethylene glycol), 0.01-10 wt.% of the ingredient C (e.g. hydroxypropyl cellulose) and 1-60 wt.% of the ingredient D e.g. the one represented by the formula MxO.Al2O3.ySiO2.zH2O [M is an alkali metal or the like; (x), (y) and (z) are each an optional number]}.
