PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reduction of the compounding amount of bentonite in a self-hardening slurry and formation of solidified walls small in bleeding ratio and high in strength. SOLUTION: In the self-hardening slurry comprising, as the main materials, only water, bentonite and a cementitious solidifying material, the bentonite is entirely or partially constituted by an activated bentonite. The activated bentonite is the one obtained by subjecting bentonite to alkali treatment without changing cristobalite unavoidably contained in the acid clay into sodium silicate or the similar one.
