摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound that has a novel crystal system, is useful as an organic photoconductor that is used in the photo-sensitive layer of an electrophotographic photoreceptor and gives an electrophotographic photoreceptor that is practically useful as not only for high-speed copying machines but also for laser printers. SOLUTION: The objective compound is represented by formula I (M is H, or an atom or compound that can bond covalently or coordinately to tetrapyrazino-porphyrazine) and has diffraction peaks at 4.6 deg., 7.1 deg., 8.0 deg., and/or 24.0 deg. at the Bragg angle of 2θ±0.3 deg., in the X-ray diffraction. The compound of formula I is prepared by reaction of benzil with diamino-maleonitrile usually in a solvent, preferably at 100-200 deg.C to form 2,3-dicyano-5,6-diphenylpyrazine of formula II, before the product of formula II is allowed to react with a metal chloride or a metal alkoxide, preferably at 100-250 deg.C.
