PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently accommodate various data, which are accommodated on a synchronous transfer mode(STM) network, on an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) network and to reduce the installation amount of an interworking facility(IWF). SOLUTION: The STM data from the STM network are transformed to the cell of ATM adaptation layer(AAL) type 1 by an IWF 63 and inputted to an ATM exchange 61. When the input cell corresponds to a connection requiring audio processing, a switch part 65 outputs the cell to an audio processing trunk 67 and the audio processing trunk 67 performs processing such as echo compensation to the input cell and inputs the cell to the switch part 65 again. Then, the switch part 65 outputs the input cell toward the trunk circuit of the ATM network.
