PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain, at a low cost, a candle which is spontaneously put out rapidly at the final extinction stage in burning by winding a nonflammable or flame-retardant member without a gap around the final extinction site of a candle wick. SOLUTION: A nonflammable or flame-retardant member 10 is strongly wound around the final extinction site of a candle wick 4. Since the wick 4 is pressed uniformly and strongly to hinder the capillary phenomenon, the suction of wax is stopped at the final extinction stage and the candle is quickly put out spontaneously. Pref., the member 10 is wound in at least one layer around the wick 4 and is a metallic tape or sheet (e.g. an aluminum tape) which can be bent and wound by fingers or a nonmetallic tape or sheet (e.g. a flame- retardant paper tape). Thus, the objective candle can be produced by a simple work without using a jig.
