PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning microscope free from image quality deterioration and to obtain a excellent scanned image. SOLUTION: The center position of an optical scanning range is detected by holding the counted value of a counter 30 counting a sampling clock (CLK) to a latch 31 by a sensor pulse outputted from a sensor every time when a spot light beam crosses an optical center position in accordance with X scanning, the center position is compared with a center picture element (512 picture element) within screen set by a correction resistor 33 and an address imparted to a timing signal generation memory 38 is adjusted by a deviated amount from the compared result so that a picture display position for the optical scanning is instantly corrected for every one-line scanning.
