PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restore an elevator early when a motor causes a failure. SOLUTION: This car self-running type elevator is provided with a car 2 arranged in a hoistway 1 so as to move vertically, a drive pulley 4 provided in the car 2, a motor driving the drive pulley 4, a rope 6 whose one end and the other end are fixed in an upper part and a lower part of the hoistway, respectively, and intermediate part is applied on the drive pulley 4, and a rope tension means 7 for giving tension to the rope 6.
