PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress the corrosion of a metal substrate during cleaning, to avoid the local corrosion and to enhance whiteness after cleaning by using at least one selected from pyridinium compounds obtained by quarternizing pyridine compounds. SOLUTION: At least one selected from pyridinium compounds obtained by quarternizing pyridine compounds of the formula using a quarternizing agent is used as a corrosion inhibitor for acid cleaning of metals. In the formula, R1-R5 are each H, or 1-10C alkyl which may be a branched alkyl. It is preferable that R1 is CH3 and R2-R5 are each H. At least one compound of the formula R6X(R6 is H, benzyl or hydroxyethyl or 1-20C alkyl which may be a branched alkyl; X is Cl, Br, I, F or R6SO4) is used as the quarternizing agent. A corrosion inhibitor is added in an amount of about 0.1-50,000 mg to 11 of an acid solution.
