PURPOSE: A method for preparing trimethylolpropane diallyl ether is prepared, which is improved in the yield and purity of the product. CONSTITUTION: Trimethylolpropane diallyl ether represented by the formula 1 is prepared by reacting trimethylolpropane, allyl halide and metal hydroxide in the presence of a phase transfer catalyst such as a tertiary ammonium salt. The tertiary ammonium salt is selected from the group consisting of tetrabutyl amonium chloride, tetrabutylammonium bromide, tetrabutylammonium iodide and tetrabutylammonium hydrogen sulfate, and preferably is used at amount of 0.5-5 mol% based on the amount of trimethylolpropane. The allyl halide and the metal hydroxide are used at amount of 2.0-2.4 equivalent and 2-3 equivalent, respectively, based on the amount of trimethylolpropane. The reaction is preferably carried out in an aqueous solvent or a mixture of water and other organic solvents selected from xylene, toluene, benzene, cyclohexane, isooctane and heptane, and at a temperature of 70-120°C.
