A folding mat, for use in the emergency treatment of a patient, comprises a substantially rectangular, padded portion (2) and a second portion (4, 6) joined along one edge of the padded portion, one surface of the second portion being formed with one or more storage compartments (8), and arranged for the two portions to be folded towards one another along their adjoining edge. The mat may thus be folded for storage or transportation and, when unfolded, provides a cushioned support for a patient and ready access to one or more items of medical equipment which may be stored in the or each compartment (8). |
