Namely, target openings of throttle valve 20 and an EGR control valve 31 are calculated from a corresponding map. Fuel pressure Pc in a common rail 34 detected by a fuel pressure sensor 36 is read, an injection rate Q is calculated from the map by interpolation. At the time of L>Xi, secondary combustion is carried out, and target openings of the throttle valve 20 and the EG control valve 31 are calculated from a corresponding map.</p>
