The cup part has a double-walled construction, the two walls (5, 6) being joined together around the cup rim, and its base of the cavity between the two walls is formed by a breakable piece (8) of e.g. film material. A tubular column (4) has its top end joined to the cup outer wall (5) and covered by the breakable piece, whilst its bottom end is joined to a foot (3). - The base (10) of the foot can be pressed in to push up a rod with a penetration part at its top end in order to pierce the base of the cup. The column is filled with a liquid (15) and the space (13) in between the cup walls is filled with a salt (14), so that when the rod is pushed through the cup base the salt and water mix, generating cold for chilling a drink in the cup. - TECHNOLOGY FOCUS - INORGANIC CHEMISTRY - Cold is generated by mixing water with ammonium nitrate. |
