The laser has an auxiliary resonator system adjacent the main resonator provided by the beam output mirror (AS1) of the main resonator and different auxiliary resonator mirror elements (HS1, HS2), selected for operation in respective stability ranges. The nonlinear resonator mirror (PCM) is adapted to match the dominant mode generated by the auxiliary resonator.
