A supply cable for underwater units, especially work stations on the sea bed, comprises at least two chambers which extend in the longitudinal cable direction. One of the chambers has a carrier section which can accommodate tensile forces, and which can accommodate supply cables. The carrier section consists of a chain (11) whose links (12) have weights over at least part of the chain length.
