The present invention relates to a method for teaching foreign languages that comprises showing to the students a plurality of colour demonstration systems in which all basic words are indicated in black or blue, while distinct words or parts thereof are indicated in green and new words are indicated in red. An assistant checks on the work carried out by the students on their own and indicates in red the approximate location of a mistake, wherein the student corrects said mistake himself and also in red. The students also reproduce in colour the information which is displayed in the demonstration systems. During a spoken examination, all the students examined answer simultaneously by predetermined gestures, mimics or body movements after they have shut their eyes. In order to build-up a lexical background, a student prepares several sets of short orthographic dictionaries that the students learn after the lessons. During the lessons, the students write down the words from said dictionaries while spelling them aloud. It is also possible to use an audio recording. After the lessons, the students also learn words from short orthographic, pronunciation, practical and philosophical dictionaries.
