PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a woven fabric inspection apparatus unnecessary to match the specification of the loom. SOLUTION: Light-receiving elements 19, 20 on a sensor head 14 pick up the light reflecting the woven state of a woven fabric W and convert the light into an electric signal. The electric signal is transmitted to a signal processing circuit board 21. A frequency distribution characteristic is calculated by a frequency operation circuit 41 and a statistical operation circuit 42 based on the electric signal transmitted from the signal processing circuit board 21 on the sensor head 14. The comparison circuit 43 judges the woven state by comparing the frequency distribution characteristic with a standard value stored in a standard value setting circuit 44. When the comparison circuit 43 judges the weaving stop state of the loom, the output circuit 39 cancels the judgement of the presence of defect made by a defect judging means included in the signal processing circuit board 21.
