PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compression molded conductor of oxide superconductor having large current capacity and high mechanical strength. SOLUTION: This compression molded conductor 1 of oxide superconductor has a shield layer 3 made of ceramic powder and ceramic fiber around a reinforcement material of a Ni-Cr-Fe alloy, and a compression molded strands of superconducing conductor materials 4 having a circular cross section and many superconducting filaments 4b in silver or silver based alloy matrix 4a on the external surface of the shield layer 3. In other words, wires are grouped and compression molded, thereby providing a compact conductor cross section and large current capacity. Also, reinforcement materials are arranged at the center, thereby substantially increasing mechanical strength, compared with the conventional oxide superconductor.
