PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an expand metal on which pointed ends are not generated by providing flat plate parts having a prescribed length over the entire width at both end sides in the feed direction of a base plate, providing notches which are in place in the flat plate parts in the corresponding places on both the end sides, making a prescribed cross-sectional shape by bending the base plate in the width direction on the straight line connecting the notches and making reinforcing edges by bending the flat plate in prescribed positions from the end sides in the feed direction. SOLUTION: The flat plate parts 2 without cuts are provided over the entire width on both end sided of the tip and end in the feed direction. In four corners of the flat plate parts 2, the rectangular notches 4 having approximately same width and length as the width of the reinforcing edges are provided. The segment of the line by which corner points 41 on the both sided of the flat plate parts 2 are connected is taken as the refracting line 42 in the lateral direction and the segment by which the corner points on the same edge side are connected as the refracting line 42 in the longitudinal direction. By bending the flat plate parts 2 on both the end sides at a point of the refracting line 42 in the lateral direction, the reinforcing edges 5 are formed at the upper and Lower ends. At both the edge sides without the flat plate parts 2, by bending an expand metal 10 along the refracting line 42 in the longitudinal direction, the reinforcing edges the made. Because the reinforcing edges are formed without cutting the expand metal 10, the pointed ends in strands are not generated.
